Ruggedness Tested: Which Mobile DVRs Survive Real Fleet Abuse?

We subjected six mobile DVRs to vibration, temperature cycling and dust. The results surprised us.

Ruggedness Tested: Which Mobile DVRs Survive Real Fleet Abuse?

Spec sheets claim wide operating temperatures and vibration resistance — but lab claims and fleet reality are different things. We built a torture test.

The Test Protocol

72 hours of vibration simulating 50,000 km, temperature cycling from -20掳C to 65掳C, and dust chamber exposure.

What Failed

Two units using consumer-grade SD cards corrupted footage under vibration. SSD-based units sailed through.

Lesson for Buyers

Storage type is the single biggest predictor of long-term reliability. Insist on automotive-grade SSDs for any vehicle that sees real road abuse.
